CASTLE HILL BOWLING CLUB

Castle Hill Bowling Club has long been a local gathering spot, bringing bowlers together since the 1960s. To support the club’s future, the green was upgraded with new drainage, fresh foundations, and a high-quality GG3 woven surface installed to Australian Bowls Standards.

With modern roofing now in place, the synthetic all-weather green offers a dependable space for play and community year-round.

To begin with, the existing green was cleared and prepared for assessment. Its worn surface highlighted exactly where renewal would start, signalling a new chapter ahead.

From there, exposed soil revealed the early groundwork. This practical stage helped set the direction for what came next.

At this point, neatly graded soil and tidy surrounds showed the site was ready to move forward. It was a steady moment before construction gathered pace.

Each step—excavation, ground shaping, and early drainage work—reflects a commitment to quality and methodical progress, ensuring strong foundations for the new bowling green.

Shortly after, the team levelled the sub-base and compacted the gravel. At the same time, drainage was positioned to support long-term stability and performance.

Under the newly installed dome by MakMax, work progressed with shaping the base. Here, earlier foundation efforts began to take clearer form.

Meanwhile, machinery moved carefully across the sheltered site to grade the tan sand layer. In doing so, the team created a smooth and even platform for the next phase.

Following this, a tack coat sealed the surface. This step strengthened the bond between the prepared base and the upcoming synthetic layers.

Soon after, a smooth white layer was laid beneath the dome. This prepared the surface for the 6mm GG3 underlay and the installation stages ahead.

Gradually, the Castle Hill Bowling Green began to show its final form. The vibrant synthetic surface was neatly edged with wall turf along the ditches. In addition, ferrules and ring markers were installed to guide play with clarity.
