BIOScapes carefully rebuilt the bowling green at Soldiers Point Bowling Club. The surface is now back to a level, reliable condition for everyday bowls.
This bowling green rebuild focused on doing the simple things well. The goal was straightforward — better consistency underfoot and a green that’s easy to care for over time. The club sits in a beautiful coastal location. They needed a surface that could handle regular play without demanding too much from staff and volunteers. It’s great to see the green back in use, supporting relaxed games and social moments in this tight-knit community.
BEFORE & DURING BOWLING GREEN REBUILD
To start, the team stripped back the existing needle punch surface and underlay. This cleared the way to rebuild the green from the ground up.
The team replaced some of the rotted-out timbers that were exposed to the weather, keeping costs as low as possible for the client.
From there, they installed and graded the top rock blend to Australian Bowls standards. They then applied a bonded polymer flood coat. This formed the solid, engineered base that supports all the layers above.
AFTER BOWLING GREEN REBUILD
Once the base was set, the team applied a control layer and sealed it with a tack coat. It’s a quiet but important step. Everything was now ready for underlay and carpet installation.
With the groundwork done, they laid a fresh underlay and Greengauge Needlepunch surface. Slowly, the green started to take shape again.
Before long, it was finished and ready to go. Another project wrapped up with care — ready for the club to enjoy for years to come.
